The kstuff payload, originally developed by Sleirsgoevy and now maintained by
Echo Stretch, quickly received a major new update. It now also supports PlayStation 5 firmware versions 9.20,9.40, and 9.60 , released between April 24 and July 23, 2024.
This tool uses kernel exploits to bypass Sony ‘s protections, allowing the execution of homebrew, unsigned code, and in some cases, PS4 and PS5 game backups via a homebrew loader.
kstuff also recently introduced a fix for PS4 DLC packs, which can now be installed and recognized normally without having to include them in game updates.
This opens the way to playing more recent titles, released up to the end of 2024, such as Silent Hill Remake and Baldur’s Gate 3.
PS5 News: Link and QR Code Invitations
Sony has introduced the ability to invite other players to a gaming session simply by sharing a link or QR code. This feature is available for open sessions and will be gradually rolled out to all users by July 24, 2024.
Voice command improvements
Voice control, currently in preview and available in English for PSN accounts registered in the US and UK, now allows you to open the Game Guide action tabs by saying “Show Game Guide.”
Features for child accounts
Child accounts can now connect third-party services and apps like Discord, Apple Music, Spotify, YouTube, and Twitch , under the control of parents and guardians. New parental controls have been introduced to manage connections, with availability varying by age and region.
Discord Voice Chat on PS5
You can now start or join a Discord voice chat directly from your PS5. Simply open Game Base in Control Center and go to the Discord tab to join servers or direct calls.
Updates for PULSE headphones and earphones
Sony has updated the software for the PULSE Elite headset , PULSE Explore earphones , and the PlayStation Link adapter , improving connection stability and fixing bugs such as the headset unexpectedly turning off when an audio cable was connected. The brightness of the status lights has also been reduced for more comfortable use.
General system improvements
The updates have improved system stability , overall performance , and the usability of various screens , providing a smoother experience for all users.
The decision to upgrade your firmware or not is a personal one: older firmware offers more comprehensive exploits and the ability to install additional features like Linux, but newer firmware allows you to run more games.
Please note that after version 5.50 it is no longer possible to use the browser for jailbreaking and after 7.61 you can no longer take advantage of the Blu-ray exploit, making the Lua method via Japanese games necessary.
Compatibility with LUA games
To use kstuff , you’ll need to jailbreak your console by launching one of the compatible titles. Unfortunately, demo versions require the latest firmware update to be downloaded from the PSN.
