The Xbox 360 modding scene continues to thrive, and the FreeMyXe team never stops. It’s with great pleasure that we’ve announced the release of FreeMyXe 1.1 , the latest version of the lightweight executable that unlocks your console by patching the kernel and hypervisor at runtime, taking advantage of Grimdoomer’s BadUpdate exploit.
This new release brings a much-requested community improvement and some important fixes.
What’s New in FreeMyXe 1.1?
Here are the main new features you’ll find in version 1.1:
- Added support for Bad Storage formatted drives: Thanks to the key contributions of @EatonZ , FreeMyXe 1.1 now features Bad Storage support . This means you can now seamlessly use internal hard drives and SSDs with capacities greater than 500GB on your Xbox 360. A fantastic update for those who need more space for games and homebrew!
- Fixed slightly broken XeLL boot logic: The team fixed a small issue in the logic that handles booting XeLL , the open-source bootloader. Booting XeLL should now be more reliable and work as expected.
What is FreeMyXe? A Review
For those who don’t know, FreeMyXe is a lightweight , targeted solution designed specifically for:
- Apply unlock patches to the kernel and hypervisor in real time.
- Allow homebrew , XeLL and LibXenon to run .
- Display your CPU Key prominently (write it down and keep it safe!).
- Disable Xbox Live connections (but you still need to disconnect your console before performing the exploit!).
If you are looking for a more complete solution with plugin support and higher game compatibility, the team itself recommends alternatives like XeUnshackle .

Important Warnings: Read Carefully!
Using FreeMyXe and the BadUpdate exploit comes with certain responsibilities. Please keep in mind:
- BRICK DANGER: DO NOT run homebrew that modifies files on the NAND, and DO NOT attempt to flash a modified NAND. YOU WILL RENDER YOUR CONSOLE UNUSABLE!
- RISK OF BAN: COMPLETELY DISCONNECT your console from Xbox Live and the Internet before running BadUpdate and NEVER CONNECT AGAIN . Do not run homebrew with an Xbox Live-enabled profile. The risk of ban is real!
FreeMyXe is and remains free software
FreeMyXe is free software. If you paid for it, either separately or in a bundle, you’ve been scammed! Redistribution is only allowed if it’s free.
