The PS5 homebrew scene takes another huge step forward. EchoStretch, the developer behind the essential Kstuff tool, has just released the most anticipated update in months: version  v1.6.2 , which brings  full native support for firmware versions 8.40 and 8.60 .

This update significantly expands the range of compatible consoles, opening the door to homebrew for thousands of users who were on more recent firmware versions.

The Official Release: What’s New

The announcement was made directly by  EchoStretch  on the popular sharing platforms about 15 hours ago. The update, identified by the commit  2bff5d6, is the result of intense development work.

Here are the main new features in the  Changelog :

  • Added full support for 8.40/8.60 : This is the heart of the update. Payloads are now optimized and fully functional on the latest firmware versions available for the PS5.
  • Fixed Shellcore Patching Method : Special thanks to  @idlesauce  for his crucial contribution in fixing an issue with the Shellcore patching method, a critical step in the success of the exploit.
